Editing for Dummies

This website uses MediaWiki, so if you'd like more information about how to do things, you can find it here. To find out which extensions are used, go to Special:Versions (just type it into the search box to the right)

First things first, if you want to create a new article, you need to access a link to an article that doesn't yet exist. This can be done by typing in the article name in the search box to the right. There will be a red link telling you that the article doesn't exist yet, and that you can create it by clicking on the link. Be careful about capital letters! Wikimedia is case sensitive, so it will differentiate between "Rainbow Dash" and "Rainbow dash". The only exception is the first letter of an article or category name, since it will be capitalized automatically.

Writing something between equal signs (like this: ==Header==) creates headers, the more equal signs are used, the lower the header level is:

Level 1[edit]

Level 2[edit]

Level 3[edit]

Level 4[edit]

Unless you put _NOTOC_ on top of the article, a table of content will be created automatically if you start using headers.

By putting __TOC__ somewhere in the article, you can also move the table of content to that position.

Four Dashes in a row (----) will create a horizontal line:

Links[edit]

To create an intra-wiki link write something like this Main Page, which will create Main Page. To create a link that leads somewhere other than what the text says, write somewhere other

External links do not need brackets, unless you want to make them shorter: http://pastebin.com/

If you want to shorten the link, write it like this: Pastebin, to get Pastebin

Images & Gallerys[edit]

To add images, use
I feel a desire for ejaculation.

To invoke a gallery, use

<gallery>
Image:1401670207962.png|Image one
Image:1298706365104.png|Image two
</gallery>

Text Styles[edit]

The above pre-formatted text block was created using <pre></pre> tags. To create a similiar text block that colors text green like 4chan does use <source lang="gettext" enclose="div"></source> tags.

<source lang="gettext" enclose="div">
>implying
</source>

will produce

>implying

This makes use of the SyntaxHighlight extension, where 'lang="gettext"' determines the programming language (I edited gettext to be like 4chan), and while 'enclose="div"' isn't essential, it adds automatic line breaks.

<source lang="gettext" enclose="div" class="mw-collapsible mw-collapsed">
>implying
</source>

will produce

>implying

Bold text is written like this

italics text is written like this

Standart html tags like <b> also work.

Lists & Tables[edit]

To create a bulletin list, write something like this: *Point

To do list:

 • Shitpost
 • Cum inside
 • Git gud

Multiple points will create subpoints. Using # instead of * will get you a numbered list instead.

To produce tables, use

+ Caption
Header 1
Header 2
something
something else
to produce
Caption
Header 1 Header 2
something something else

If you want a table that doesn't look like shit, use

+ Caption
Header 1
Header 2
something
something else

to produce

Caption
Header 1 Header 2
something something else

Exclamation marks indicate headers, |- indicates a new line, and | indicates a new column.

MediaWiki elements can also be made collapsible by adding mw-collapsible. If you also add mw-collapsed, it will be collapsed by default.

Header 1
Header 2
something
something else

will produce

Header 1 Header 2
something something else
